About RNDM

The Religious of Notre Dame of the Missions (RNDM) is a Catholic religious congregation founded by Sister Euphrasie Barbier in 1864. The RNDM sisters are dedicated to the education of girls and women, especially those who are marginalized or disadvantaged. Their mission is guided by the charism of promoting justice, compassion, and empowerment through education and social initiatives.

The congregation quickly expanded and established missions worldwide, working in Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. They engage in educational, healthcare, and social development activities in collaboration with local communities. Education has always been a primary focus, and the RNDM sisters have established numerous schools, colleges, and vocational training centers. Their aim is to provide quality education, particularly for girls and women, enabling them to become empowered individuals.

The RNDM sisters hold a special devotion to Our Lady of the Missions, viewing Mary as their guiding model in their mission of service and evangelization. Alongside education, the sisters actively engage in social justice initiatives. They combat poverty, human trafficking, violence against women, and other forms of injustice. The congregation promotes sustainable development, environmental stewardship, and community empowerment, striving to create a more just and compassionate world.

While specific activities may vary across different RNDM communities, their overall commitment to education, social justice, and empowerment remains consistent. Through their work, the RNDM sisters contribute to uplifting communities, providing opportunities for education, advocating for the rights of the marginalized, and fostering a spirit of compassion and justice in the world.

RNDM Sisters established missionary involvement in the Philippines in October, 1987. Two pioneer Sisters coming from Bangladesh and India began work among the indigenous people, known as the Dulangan Menubo in the village of Kulaman in the southern island of Mindanao. This ministry, with its education, health and livelihood components, continues to this day. During the years that followed, the missionary endeavors of the Sisters have grown with eight Filipinas having joined the Congregation and other RNDMs from different parts of the world being missioned to the Philippines. For many years, too, the Philippines has also served as a place for formation and study for many RNDMs throughout the world. RNDM mission activities in the Philippines are varied. RNDMs are active in ministry among the indigenous peoples, in inter-religious dialogue and peace development, in areas of health, education, social work, spirituality and formation. The RNDM served as an avenue for our donors and supporters to pour out their generosity to the Kulaman Manobo Community.
